County and City Grants for the Mt. Olive Bruin Shelter

Every day, the Students 4 Students/ Bruin Shelter, hosted at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Santa Monica, provides a safe place for homeless college students. Now the Los Angeles County Supervisors have agreed to provide a grant to Mt. Olive so that the renovations on the Students 4 Students/ Bruin Shelter at Mt. Olive, Santa Monica can begin.

This grant, along with with a similar grant from the City of Santa Monica approved in February, completes the funding needed to renovate shelter space at Mt. Olive to comply with Santa Monica fire regulations, and will allow them to house two additional homeless college students, making a total of 12 beds available. The shelter was featured in an April New York Times article about student homelessness.

We thank the county and city and everyone who has worked so hard to get this project funded and approved. This is indeed a blessing from God!
