Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration and Commemoration Worship Service – January 14, 2018 in Westchester


The Synod Planning Committee for the January 14, 2018 Martin Luther King Worship Service is proud to extend its invitation to our Rostered Ministers and their congregations and choirs to be part of this wonderful event in the Lord.

This year’s theme is “What Would Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Do?” With all that we are experiencing in these days and times, what would he have done?

Bishop R. Guy Erwin will be heading our processional and will be our “preacher of the hour.” White Albs and Red Stoles will be worn in celebration and thanks to Almighty God for the blessings of Unity, Faithful Service, and Justice for all.

The Worship Service will be held at the following place and time:

Westchester Lutheran Church

Time – 3:00 p.m.  –  Refreshments to follow

Rostered Ministers: The processional will form 25 minutes before the service begins and there are accommodations for vesting once you arrive. Please contact us at: should you decide to be part of the processional. Your presence and participation are greatly appreciated!

Choirs and Choir Leaders: You are invited to join our MLK Unity Mass Choir or our MLK Unity Men’s Chorus! Rehearsals will be held on January 6 and 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Westchester Lutheran Church. Contact or download these flyers for more information.

The offering from the day’s service will go to Lutheran Disaster Response.
