The Synod Seal

Kathryn Swanson, a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Thousand Oaks, is the originator of the artist's rendering of the Synod Seal as described in the Constitution of the Southern California West Synod: "The seal of this Synod is a five petal rose outlined behind a cross formed of four trumpets with the image of a dove superimposed at its center. The name of this church and this synod and the year of its constituting convention form the outer edge of the seal."
Kathryn has added the "weaving" of the fabric around its edges standing for "weaving the fabric of unity ... led by the Shepherd and staff ... bringing the gifts of the many ... serving creatively ... here and now ... one in the Spirit ... rich in texture ... multi-colored ... diverse ... together weaving ..."
The members and congregations of the Southern California West Synod feel blessed by her artistic talents and thank her for this gift.
