Thank you to Charles Bunnell for this update!
Lutheran Social Services and Community Care, San Fernando Valley has made the move from the Canoga Park office to North Hollywood to Valley Lutheran Church (Iglesia San Pablo) – we are now making our way through numerous boxes and getting organized.
We have a new Area Director, Jennifer Jerbi, wife of Pastor Steve Jerbi, the new pastor at Bethel Encino. Jan Maseda is back to help with the move and transition.
Our Food Pantry and Clothes Closet will be open on November 7 from 11:00 a.m -2:00 p.m. We are looking to our Lutheran friends to volunteer and once again be a part of the LSS Family! Immediately upon moving to North Hollywood, we found three Head Start programs under the umbrella of Volunteers of America. One is located right next door to us, and the other two locations are within 2 miles of our location. That equates to 180 families we can assist as soon as we are open!
Our plans, in addition to the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet, include the continuation of computer classes, ESL classes, the Rider Relief program, bus tokens, case management, supportive services, Homeless to Home, and will later include life skills training, job readiness skills, financial literacy, budgeting and money management training, self-esteem building skills and self-advocacy training.
What are our immediate needs? We are collecting food to put together for Thanksgiving bags for our families in need. Rice, pasta, boxed dressing, cranberry sauce, canned veggies, boxed cakes/muffin mixes or anything non-perishable would be greatly appreciated! We will also be collecting toys for our children in need -unwrapped gifts for boys or girls ages infant through 12 years. We can also use any gently used jackets for our clients as we get closer to winter each week.
We would love to have you visit us! Our new address is 7400 Tujunga Avenue in :00 p.m, and Fridays 8:00 a.m. – noon. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Jerbi at (414)238-7028 or Jan Maseda at (818)288-7054. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to minister and assist the homeless and low to extremely low-income individuals and families of the San Fernando Valley Region.
Thank you once again for your continued support of Lutheran Social Services and Community Care!
