All members of Southwest California Synod congregations are invited to participate in the Spring Multi-Conference Assembly on April 14, beginning at 6:00 PM. Pre-registrationn is required through the link provided here in order that participants might be placed in their conference's breakout room.
As the Spring Assembly begins, all nine conferences of SWCA will meet simultaneously in nine different breakout zoom rooms. With your Dean, you will conduct the necessary business of your Conference as you do each Spring. Please register as soon as possible and give us the needed information so that we are able to gather together on that Wednesday evening for this unique opportunity.
Following the brief conference meetings, we will come back together for a conversation as people of faith. After another painful year watching racial injustice unfold across our country, we know these issues face our congregations and their members. This assembly invites us as people of faith to begin to address the complex issues regarding policing and public safety that are daily in our news. Our guest presenter, Elle Dowd (A recent graduate from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago) will share her own story and experiences that have led her to write a book on this topic. Ms. Dowd is an experienced facilitator who will help us navigate these conversations that matter in our own communities. As Christians called to love our neighbors, let us wrestle with our history and our present, allowing God, through us, to usher justice and peace into our world. After her presentation, we will use breakout rooms to share our own perspectives and discuss aspects of community safety that matter most to us. The event planners hope this time is relevant, engaging, and constructive for our entire synod.
