This position would manage an administrative staff of 2-4 people who provide practical and spiritual support for over one hundred Lutheran congregations in the Southern California area. This position will work closely with our finance team, implementing human resource policies and procedures. In addition to managing this staff, the candidate will also support the day-to-day operations for the synodical bishop. This work includes managing calendar and travel, meeting preparation and coordination of volunteers attending events or committees. Manager would be a key participant in planning our annual synod assembly, a three-day event convening over 300 people as well as several educational and social events throughout the year. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, on-line document collaboration, WordPress and Constant Contact is critical, as well as time management and excellent people skills. This position will frequently send out email and communiques on behalf of the bishop and may create and implement communication strategies for the synod.
This is a “holding down the fort” position, with lots of time working alone, moving projects forward for the bishop as well as maintaining office procedure and decorum. Attention to detail and a strong sense of cooperation will be required. Spanish or Mandarin speakers encouraged to apply. Knowledge of church polity is helpful, but not required.
This is an exempt position, salary range commensurate to experience.
