Ask, Thank, Tell – A Stewardship Book Study

Ask, Thank, Tell - Session 1: Tuesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m.

You are invited to join a Stewardship Book Study, held via Zoom at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evenings this Winter and Spring. We will read Ask, Thank, Tell, Improving Stewardship Ministry in Your Congregation, and our discussion leader will be author Charles Lane.

A graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, Pastor Lane served as Assistant to the Bishop in the Northwestern Minnesota Synod, ELCA, from 1996-2005, and as Director for Stewardship Key Leader, ELCA, from 2005 - 2010. As well as Ask, Thank, Tell, published by Augsburg Fortress in 2006, he authored the annual stewardship program Walk with Jesus, published by the ELCA in 2006. He is also the author of a number of articles on stewardship.

The goal of Ask, Thank, Tell is to perform a dramatic rescue of stewardship, freeing it from any connection whatsoever to "paying the bills." When the Bible talks about stewardship, it almost always talks about the intimate connection between how a person handles financial matters, and that person's relationship with God. Stewardship is an intensely spiritual matter that lies close to a disciple's relationship with Jesus.

The book is designed especially for use in congregational planning and study. Congregational stewardship leaders will come back to three foundational verbs - ask, thank, tell - over and over as they help individuals experience the joy of giving generously.

Participants will need to purchase the book, and can get a 30% discount by ordering through Fortress Press and using the code LANE30 at checkout.
